Pastor Rob
Hello, I'm Pastor Rob and I volunteer with my local police department. When I began volunteering for the Department with a Department/clergy organization in 2014, I wanted to be someplace where I could be known and officers would say, "There's that pastor who is always here saying 'thank you' and 'I'm praying for you'." One day our organization was serving lunch to officers and as I shared this desire, an officer said, "Why don't you attend a briefing?" So that next week I attended a briefing, introduced myself and simply said, "Thank you for your service to my family and to our city." The next week, at the end of briefing, I was asked if I had anything to say, so I said "thank you" again. After 3 weeks of this repeating, I finally said, "I have a word of encouragement if that would be OK" and, with approval, I gave a 2 minute word of encouragement. Other sergeants would attend a briefing where I shared and invite me to come to their briefing. One thing led to another and I now attend all 4 Monday briefings at the station on my side of town. These thoughts are what I share with officers each week and I hope they might encourage you, too. These thoughts are my own and are not those of the Department or organization for which I volunteer.
